The Slow Down 2020 – Code of Conduct
Slow Down 2020 is dedicated to provide a safe and comfortable dance experience to all attendees. Therefore below set code of conduct applies to all participants of the Slow Down Event (organisers, teachers, DJs, band members, volunteers, dancers and all contributors). By attending the Slow Down 2020, you confirm that you have read and understood the code of conduct. We kindly ask you to respect it.
Any harassing behaviour, such as offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of workshops or other events, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention is inappropriate and will be treated with serious consequences. If a participant engages in any harassing behaviour, the organizers will take steps to stop this behaviour, including warning the offender or even expelling the offender from the event with no refund. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
If you are being harassed, witness any harassing behaviour, or have any other concerns, please contact the members of event staff immediately. Don´t be afraid to ask for help or speak up for someone if you think he/she is being harassed. Please remember that we all have different perception of comfort and safety, and there is no „objective“ measures. If you´re unsure about the situation or a person´s feelings towards it, ask them and offer to provide company and/or assistance if needed.
A safety team will be established and visibly labelled during parties. Each member of the safety team will recieve instruction on how to proceed in different cases of harassment, and will be ready to help with sensitivity of the matter in heart. In case of any direct conflict during the parties, we´ll have both safety team members and trusted community members ready to step in in cases of aggressiveness or violence. If you find yourself in uncomfortable situation without the possibility to contact the safety team, please don´t be afraid to ask anyone around you for help. We will also strive to educate the event attendants to be more sensitive to situations surrounding them, in support of safe and pleasant environment for everybody.
We ask all participants to treat each other with respect and keep dancing social-floor friendly. Please be respectful and accept „no“ when asking for a dance. Be equally kind declining the dance.
To provide a more comfortable dance experience to your fellow dancers, we ask all dancers to take care of their personal hygiene. If necessary, please bring an extra change of clothes, deodorant or a towel.
We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everybody. Event staff will be ready and happy to help and assist those experiencing harassment so that everybody can feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance and your safety.
Please help us to create a safe and friendly event and thank you for respecting this code of conduct.
